DEG announces winners of AkzoNobel’s Titanium Group contest

Feb. 24, 2012

Feb. 24, 2012—The Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) recently announced the winners of a contest sponsored by AkzoNobel’s National Performance Titanium Group.

The DEG said the contest was designed to reward the top three individuals who submitted inquiries through the organization that resulted in positive responses. AkzoNobel’s National Performance Titanium Group made a $1,000 donation to the DEG in support of the contest, which was open to all members of the collision repair industry.

The money was split among the contest’s three winners:

• Matt Hurta of Westmont Bodywerks in Westmont, Ill., finished in first place, and was awarded with $500. The owner of Westmont Bodywerks plans to pay Hurta the $500 award out of his own pocket, and allow the DEG to keep the money, according to the DEG.
• Brady Jansen of World Toyota in Atlanta, Ga., finished in second place, and was awarded with $300.
• Mike Ferrucci of Ray’s CARSTAR Autobody in Bristol, Conn., finished in third place, and was awarded with $200.

“I would like to thank everyone in the Titanium Group for making this contest possible,” said Arthur Harris, administrator of the DEG. “This is the first contest the DEG has done and the response was great. The goal was to increase the awareness of the DEG and to give back to three individuals who submitted the most inquiries.”

The DEG was developed to help improve the quality and accuracy of collision repair estimates through proactive feedback to the industry’s information providers. The organization is funded and maintained by the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers (AASP) and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).

The DEG said it processes more than 1,000 inquiries annually. The organization has already processed 137 inquiries in 2012, a 178 percent increase compared to this time last year.
