CARSTAR Employee Recognized for 499 Hours of Volunteer Service

Aug. 8, 2013

Aug. 8, 2013—Marian Rodriguez of CARSTAR Mundelin has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for donating 499 hours of her time in 2012 to the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.

Rodriguez combines her two passions of children and photography during her volunteer hours at the organization.

Rodriguez met her partner, Randy Kittell, while they were both working for the organization.

“Had we not participated in their programs, we could have turned to drugs, drinking or a life of crime,” said Rodriguez. “Instead, we found ways to channel ourselves and also work there as we both grew up.”

Established in 2003, the President’s Volunteer Service Award was created as a way to thank and honor Americans who demonstrate commitment and inspire others to make service a central part of their lives.

“I am so fortunate to work for a company like CARSTAR Mundelein that allows me the time and flexibility to give back to the community through volunteering and photography. Our company truly believes in helping others,” said Rodriguez.
