Aug. 17, 2016—Hyundai Motor is discussing with Google the possibility of future partnerships, according to a report from Automotive News.
Hyundai Motor president Jeong Jin Haeng said the two companies have common areas that may require collaboration, though Jeong did not specify what the common areas were, whether autonomous vehicles or some other development.
A partnership could involve John Krafcik, former Hyundai U.S. chief who joined Google in 2015 to lead its autonomous vehicle development. Hyundai is also a top automaker embracing integrated infotainment interfaces such as Apple’s CarPlay and Google Android’s Auto.
