Feb. 4, 2016—An additional 2.23 million vehicles have been added by Honda to the Takata airbag recall, according to a report by USA Today.
The automaker announced that certain Honda and Acura vehicles from the 2005-2016 model years are being recalled in order to replace the Takata-manufactured PSDI-5 driver-side front airbag inflators.
The number of Honda and Acura vehicles now involved in the recall has reached 8.51 million vehicles.
Those affected by the recall will be notified by letter within 60 days. Due to the high number of required repairs, replacement parts will not be available until the summer. Once the parts are available, a second notification will be sent to owners, according to the report.
