June 11, 2015—BMW on Wednesday unveiled the all-new BMW 7 series, which will be 190 pounds lighter thanks to the vehicle’s use of a carbon-fiber “carbon core,” aluminum and high-strength steel.
The lightweight design also entails the use of aluminum for specific sections of the body and chassis. For the first time, doors and trunk lids are made of aluminum.
The series will be introduced in the US as a 740i and a 750i xDrive Model featuring BMW’s newest technologies such as Gesture Control, Wireless Charging and the standalone option of the Display Key.
The 2016 BMW will arrive in the U.S. showrooms in the fall of 2015.
