Sept. 8, 2014

Sept. 8, 2014—AkzoNobel has emerged as a possible buyer for Axalta Coating Systems, according to a recent report from Bloomberg.

The Carlyle Group, which bought Axalta from DuPont for $4.9 billion in early 2013, is “open to bids alongside a planned public offering,” and has pursued a meeting with AkzoNobel “to pitch a deal.” Bloomberg credited unidentified sources close to the situation.

The report also says that Sherwin-Williams is another frontrunner to acquire Axalta, which is valued at $7 billion.
