The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claims Tesla's blog about its Model 3 having the lowest probability of injury of any vehicle ever tested is inconsistent with the agency's usage guidelines.
Aug. 7, 2019—The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) last year claimed that Tesla did not comply with the agency's guidelines in its Model 3 safety assertions, according to a new report by Reuters.
NHTSA sent a cease-and-desist letter to Tesla last year for not complying with its guidelines. Tesla's blog from last year claimed that the Model 3 allegedly had the lowest probability of injury of any vehicle ever tested by the NHTSA.
The agency also asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate if the statements constituted unfair or deceptive trade practices.
