PPG has added a new laboratory at its Cleveland Coatings Plant.

Oct. 30, 2019—PPG has added a laboratory at its Cleveland Coatings Plant. The lab previously was based at a PPG facility in Adrian, Mich., reported Cleveland.com.

PPG moved the facility to take advantage of the Cleveland area’s technically trained workforce and because it will tie in with the work on other types of automotive coatings already being conducted at the plant, a PPG official said. The West Park complex is PPG’s largest automotive manufacturing and technical center in the Americas.

PPG expects that coatings and sealants required for electric-vehicle batteries will be developed and tested at the lab, according to the report. n addition to next-generation automobiles such as electric vehicles, the lab’s research will focus on reducing the weight of coatings, and therefore of vehicles.
