AkzoNobel eliminates lead compounds from paint brands

AkzoNobel Coatings Inc. has eliminated lead compounds from all its North American Car Refinishes paint brand formulations.

Those brands include Sikkens, Lesonal, U-tech and Wanda.

“AkzoNobel has maintained a preemptive position on the Dow Jones Sustainability index for our many efforts to create more environmentally friendly products and practices,” said Tim Loden, AzkoNobel director of marketing.

Elimination of lead compounds by the Norcross, Ga.-based supplier of paints, finishes and stains for the automotive industry follows its use of lead-free toner formulations.
