Jan. 15, 2018—Last week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Ford used a lengthy press conference to detail its autonomous vehicle plans.

Ford also announced a new partnership with Qualcomm and delivery service Postmates, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Ford Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett told a large crowd in Las Vegas that autonomous driving and connectivity are likely to change city streets as we know them.

“For the first time in this century, we have a mobility technology that just won’t incrementally improve the old system. It can completely disrupt it,’’ Hackett said.

Additionally, Ford announced at the CES event that it is developing a mobility cloud platform with mapping and payment amenities that could, in theory, help reduce traffic within cities. That platform would be open, with a universal language that could allow developers to build applications rather easily.
