NADA urges dealers to take survey on energy use

June 30, 2011

June 30, 2011 — The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) is encouraging members to take a survey on energy use.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will use the survey results to create a 1-100 ENERGY STAR performance scale dealers can use to compare their energy use to other dealers throughout the country.

Dealers that score 75 or higher will be eligible for ENERGY STAR designation, earning them local and national recognition through the Energy Stewardship Initiative offered by NADA and the EPA. They will also learn other ways to reduce energy use.

More than 800 dealerships have reduced energy by 10 percent or more annually through the Energy Stewardship Initiative, launched in 2007.

“By joining this initiative and investing in energy efficiency, dealers across the country have shown their commitment to going green,” said NADA Chairman Stephen Wade. “Improving the environment and reducing energy costs is a win-win.”

Surveys are due July 15 and can be downloaded here.
