Closing Day of the FenderBender Management Conference
LOMBARD, Ill., Sept. 29, 2017—The FenderBender Management Conference came to a close Friday, but not until attendees enjoyed a full day of information from leaders in the collision repair industry.
The day started off with a networking breakfast, which led right into the first sessions and FenderBender Talk of the day. During lunch, there was a sponsor giveaway, which was followed by the last two regular sessions of the conference.
The conference wrapped up with four shop owners: Dave Mitchell, Kevin Rains, Randy Sattler and Louie Sharp. During the closing session, each shop operator described their own unique journey to success. "How They Did It" provided ideas and examples of how they executed their results. To wrap up, the panelist shared the one piece of advice that they would give to attendees for taking the conference experience and using it to help their shop grow.
"The temptation will be to implement everything right away," Rains said. "Pace yourself. Implement over a year."
"Prioritize what you want to change and pay attention to who at your shop will be impacted by the changes," Sattler said. "The people that you work with are the ones that will help you get to where you need to be."
Sharp advised attendees to figure out what piece of advice will give the most value.
"Ask yourself, 'If I could implement one thing in the next 12 months, what would I like it to be and what will have the biggest impact on my company," Sharp said.
"Figure out what it is that you want to work on," Mitchell said. "What's the most important thing to change?"
As a closing comment, Rains told attendees not to forget about the relationships that have been made.
"The worst thing you can do is to take the business cards that you've gathered and put them on a dresser for three months and then throw them away," Rains said. "Take at least one card and reach out."
