Study Shows Consumer Skepticism Regarding Autonomous Vehicles

April 25, 2017

April 26, 2017—The J.D. Powers 2017 U.S. Tech Choice Study recently revealed that most age groups have become increasingly wary of self-driving vehicle technology. The survey, which polled 8,500 consumers, sought opinions on evolving technology such as autonomous vehicles and driver-assist systems.

According to the poll, 11 percent more Generation Z consumers indicated they “definitely would not” trust automated vehicle technology, compared to 2016. Additionally, 9 percent more pre-boomers echoed that sentiment this year.

The study also revealed that Gen Z consumers are more comfortable with technologies that take control of vehicle operating functions, like autonomous driving and parking technologies.
