2016 Education and Training Survey

Training costs money. Education takes time. It’s irrefutable: Participating in regular education and training opportunities, whether within the collision repair industry or not, takes a commitment and a great deal of buy-in from your entire organization. And as one respondent to this very survey pointed out, many in this industry (himself included) simply struggle to see the tangible return on the effort put in. Essentially, he asked a very common question: Does a commitment to regular training lead a business to a higher level of success?

That’s what we at FenderBender set out to analyze in putting together this report, our inaugural Education & Training Survey. We polled our readers, asking them 44 questions about everything from their personal backgrounds to educational experiences to the key business metrics that reflect shop performance, all in an effort to better understand how a dedication to learning can impact their operations.

Read on for the details of our findings. But if you want the short answer now: Yes, training pays; yes, education is worth the time. Shops that commit themselves to continuous improvement do indeed improve—and outperform those that don’t.
