SCA Appraisal Donates Recycled Rides Vehicle

Sept. 14, 2015

Sept. 14, 2015—On Sept. 2, Leigh Ann Smith, the mother of Sgt. Andrew R. Tobin, received the gift of a 2014 Hyundai Elantra from SCA Appraisal Company through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides program.

Sgt. Andrew R. Tobin was killed in action during Operation Enduring Freedom on Aug. 24, 2011.

SCA Appraisal Company donated the vehicle to Smith and FIX Auto Pasadena performed some minor cosmetic repairs to the vehicle.

Smith is the founder of Member of Service Mom (MOS Mom), a nonprofit organization that helps veterans identify resources for medical and legal challenges.

“This is overwhelming,” said Smith. “I can’t express how grateful I am to SCA and all those who made this car donation possible. As much as I want to hold onto the old Saab, I’m ready to move on. This gift will allow me to continue my work with Veterans in honor of Andrew.”

“It is truly our honor to help this Gold Star Mother,” said Tim Davis, Jr., executive vice president of SCA Appraisals. “We’re helping Lee Ann so that she can continue to help others in her son’s name; that’s what makes this so impactful.”
