AASP-MN Announces Race for Automotive Education

Nov. 25, 2013

Nov. 25, 2013—The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) recently announced that its 12th annual Race for Automotive Education will take place Jan. 14–15 at ProKart Indoor Racing in Burnsville, Minn.

Industry supporters will organize teams to compete in kart racing at speeds of up to 40 mph. The event is expecting to raise $7,500, which will help fund scholarships for students entering the second year of a two-year, NATEF-certified automotive program (collision or mechanical) in the state of Minnesota.

The event is the primary fundraiser for the AASP-MN Automotive Education Fund, which provides financial resources to support automotive students, enhance automotive programs and raise awareness of career opportunities in the automotive service industry.

Since its inception, the fund has disbursed nearly $146,000 directly to students enrolled in automotive programs through the association’s scholarship program and Skills USA competition.
