Report: Uber to Expand Self-Driving Car Research

Feb. 26, 2016—Uber is expanding its research on self-driving cars and other technology, according to a report by Automotive News.

Uber will expand its research in Pittsburgh, where research and development of self-driving cars takes place, by adding a second operation.

“Self-driving technology has the potential to drastically cut down on accidents and congestion while making transportation even more affordable and convenient for everyone,” said John Bares, Uber’s advanced technologies center director, in a statement according to Automotive News. “The adoption of this technology at scale is likely still many years off, but the Steel City is a terrific place to invest now and in the future.”
