Top automotive students take home SkillsUSA medals

July 2, 2012—Top collision repair and automotive refinishing students from around the country received gold medals in the SkillsUSA Championships in Kansas City.

More than 15,000 people participated in the event, including students, teachers, educational leaders, and representatives from more than 1,100 corporations, trade associations, labor unions and businesses. The program concluded June 27, allowing students to walk home with medals, scholarships, prize money and new tools.

The following is a list of the students who took home top honors in the competition:

AUTOMOTIVE REFINISHING TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION

Gold winner, high school level: Spencer Cook, Mid-Coast School of Technology, Rockland, ME

Gold winner, postsecondary level: Derek Meehl, St. Cloud Technical College, St. Cloud, Minn.

Silver winner, high school level: James Chesser, Lewis & Clark Career Center, St. Charles, Mo.

Silver winner, postsecondary level: Aaron Dressler, Penn College of Tech, Williamsport, Pa.

Bronze winner, high school level: Nathan Aguiar, Diman RVTHS, Fall River, Mass.

Bronze winner, postsecondary level: Jessica Crowley, College of Western Idaho, Nampa, ID.

COLLISION REPAIR TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION

Gold winner, high school level: Jason Lucius, Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Center–Sentinel, Tiffin, OH.

Gold winner, postsecondary level: John Stanton, Kaskaskia College, Centralia, Ill.

Silver winner, high school level: Jackson Winslett, Alvin High School, Alvin, Tex.

Silver winner, postsecondary level: Michael Annis, Washburn Tech, Topeka, Kan.

Bronze winner, high school level: James Johnson, Center of Applied Tech North, Severn, Md.

Bronze winner, postsecondary level: Owen Boyle, Penn College of Tech, Williamsport, Pa.
