Aug. 14, 2014—Intertape Polymer Group Inc. (IPG), an industrial tapes and films manufacturer, has released a masking tape designed to adhere to water-based and ultra-high slip release agents, the company announced Wednesday.

The tape, SMT1, is a paper masking tape coated with a silicone adhesive, which is designed to perform on fiberglass and other hard-to-bond surfaces.

“We studied the current products on the market and incorporated customer feedback on ways to improve performance and productivity,” said Cindy Stoner, IPG market development director. “SMT1 is a creation of innovation through collaboration with customers. ... SMT1 allows the customer the flexibility of choice, to take advantage of the technically advanced release agents, allowing for increased efficiencies, higher productivity, less rework and greater profits.”
