July 18, 2012, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS—The Collision Industry Conference (CIC) announced that George Avery, auto claims consultant in property and casualty for State Farm, will take over as the organization's chairman beginning in January.
Avery will replace Michael Quinn, who has served as chairman since January 2011. Avery will serve a two-year term. He said being chairman of the organization has ben a goal of his since his first CIC meeting 22 years ago.
“I just remember looking (at the chairman position) and seeing how impressive it was and honorable it was that they were in that position to be a recognized leader in the industry,” Avery said.
He said he plans to make sure the CIC committees are well represented, on task, and progressing. If a State Farm issue comes up—as it has recently with the company’s online parts bidding program—Avery said he would turn control to a past chairman, so he could represent the insurer.
“I’m anxious and happy and excited to do the job,” Avery said.
