July 17, 2012—One winner at SkillsUSA last month walked away with a paid trip to the SEMA Show, thanks to donations from the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) and SEMA.
Collision repair teacher John Wilson of Ohio Hi-Point Career Center in Springfield, OH, received an all-expenses-paid trip to SEMA. Wilson gets to select a student to go with him on the trip; his prize includes two airline tickets, two hotel rooms, two passes into the SEMA Show, and two passes to the SCRS Repairer Driven Education series.
"SkillsUSA and career and technical education are about providing students with professional experiences," said Tim Lawrence, executive director of SkillsUSA. "This prize of a trip to the 2012 SEMA Show and SCRS Repairer Driven Education Program is an outstanding example of that kind of experience for both a student and an instructor. It's also a motivator to have more students think of a career in collision repair. That's good for the industry and the students. It just doesn't get much better than this.”
