2014 NACE Planned for July, Set to Join CIC, I-CAR in Detroit

July 23, 2013

July 23, 2013, BOSTON—The Automotive Service Association (ASA) announced Tuesday the formation of Industry Week 2014, a joint effort between the ASA, Collision Industry Conference (CIC) and I-CAR. Industry Week will take place July 28 through Aug. 2 at the Cobo Center in Detroit, coinciding with the previously set July meetings of both the CIC and I-CAR.

The announcement was made by ASA Executive Director Dan Risley at the opening of Tuesday’s CIC meetings at the Westin Boston Waterfront. Speaking in front of the assembly, Risley said the move backs the ASA’s promise made at CIC in April that NACE will see substantial changes in the coming years.

The organization already altered the schedule of the 2013 NACE event, but the announcement Tuesday demonstrates the ASA’s commitment to NACE’s future, Risley said. And holding NACE along with the CIC and I-CAR meetings will make the event a “true industry week,” he said.

The location in the heart of the American auto industry will add another dynamic to the 2014 event. Although not going into detail, Risley said to expect “unprecedented” learning and educational opportunities, as well as access to industry-related tours and attractions in the area.

The preliminary schedule of events for Industry Week 2014 is as follows:

July 29: CIC Meeting and Reception
July 30: I-CAR Conference and Reception
July 31: Collision Repair Education Foundation Golf Outing
July 31–Aug. 1: NACE Education and Expo
Aug. 2: Education and Hosted Industry Tours

“Co-locating NACE with the I-CAR and CIC conferences in July and creating Industry Week represents the beginning of a new era for our industry, and this is extremely exciting," Risley said. "Professionals in the industry can now truly take one week and participate in all the meetings they need involving the industry’s most influential individuals and organizations, attend all the conferences, walk the show, network, and receive the education critical to their business success."

Organizers of Industry Week 2014 said additional details on each event will be release_notesd in the coming months.
