MAACO paints car for man battling cancer

Feb. 15, 2011

Feb. 15, 2011 — A Texas MAACO shop recently teamed up with the Twilight Wish Foundation to paint a cancer patient’s beloved 1997 Honda Accord.

Ray Decker, 81, is undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments in a battle against advanced colon cancer. He enjoys taking care of his Accord and having a fresh coat of paint on it makes him feel better about driving to and from treatments, according to a MAACO press release_notes.

“When he got here, he was just so very appreciative that we could do anything for him,” said Carlos Young, who runs the MAACO shop in Plano, Texas. “The whole crew just kind of jumped on board to help get it done.”

The Twilight Wish Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization aimed at honoring and enriching the lives of elders by granting wishes. The foundation has granted more than 1,550 wishes since it was launched in 2003.
