March 18, 2011 — I-CAR on April 11 will roll out a new course on plastic and composite repair, the organization announced Friday.
The course will replace classes on plastic welding repair and plastic adhesive repair, using some content from those courses as well as material on new technology and updated manufacturer recommendations. It will meet I-CAR ProLevel 1 requirements within the I-CAR Professional Development Program for the estimator, non-structural technician and auto physical damage appraiser roles.
“In today’s evolving collision repair market, technicians are performing repairs on vehicles made from a variety of plastics and composites,” said Jeff Peevy, I-CAR director of field operations. “For a technician to accomplish a safe repair, it’s required that they have an understanding of the materials which they’re working with.”
