Honda manager planning to write collision industry history
Jan. 6, 2011 — Collision repair history buffs, Gary Ledoux is looking for you.
The assistant national manager for American Honda’s wholesale parts marketing department is planning to spend the next two years writing a book about the history of the U.S. collision repair industry. To complete this sizable task, Ledoux is searching for industry insiders with knowledge of any and all sectors of the business.
“This is something that has not been done before,” he said. “Many people have labored long and hard to make the auto collision repair business the professional and vibrant industry it is today — but few know of them.”
Ledoux said he is also looking for the oldest continuously operated shop in the U.S.
Anyone interested in learning more about the book or contributing information can do so at collisionrepairhistory.com, a site Ledoux developed to facilitate discussions on the topic and collect data.
Ledoux writes as a hobby and has authored four books on American history during the past seven years. He is a former contributing editor for Power Equipment Trade magazine and Motorcycle Industry magazine.
