May 17, 2013

May 17, 2013—The Automotive Body Parts Association (ABPA) has awarded Bob Frayer, director of NSF International’s Engineering Laboratory, with its Chairman’s Award for his commitment to increasing the number of tested and certified automotive collision replacement parts available in the market.

“We are honored to recognize the achievements of Bob Frayer and NSF International for their dedication to continually advance the aftermarket automotive parts industry,” said Dan Morrissey, chairman of the ABPA.

Frayer oversees NSF International’s Automotive Collision Certification Program, through which NSF independently evaluates the form, fit and function of aftermarket parts compared original equipment parts. The program is designed to ensure that collision parts meet certain quality, safety and performance standards through rigorous facility audits and parts testing.

Frayer also oversees NSF International’s Automotive Collision Parts Distributor Certification Program, which certifies distributors that sell automotive collision parts.

“NSF and ABPA are dedicated to protecting public health and safety, as well as to helping ensure the safety and performance of aftermarket auto parts,” said Frayer, who has more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. “We want to help make sure the highest quality parts are available to collision repair professionals.”

The ABPA said Frayer is an active member of several industry organizations, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
