Sept. 20, 2012—The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) on Thursday announced it is offering free enrollment in Green Sustainability School to all shop operators in the collision repair industry.
The SCRS said Green Sustainability School helps shop operators understand the importance of waste and energy reduction in their businesses. The training program is designed to keep shop professionals up to date on green practices, and how to effectively carry them out.
The school is part of the GreenSweep energy and pollution performance program, which is available to SCRS members through GRC-Pirk Management Co., a professional engineering firm recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). GRC-Pirk has selected the SCRS as the primary provider of the Green Sustainability School to the collision repair industry.
"SCRS has the largest, most comprehensive collection of collision shop owners and affiliate organizations that campaign the benefits of green education," said Steven Schillinger, president of GRC-Pirk. "We are so pleased that SCRS saw the benefit of opening this educational opportunity to the entire industry through our partnership, and we look forward to delivering the online green schooling in a manner that has broad sweeping positive impact on the industry."
Green Sustainability School is produced by KPA Online, a company that provides consulting and software services for environmental and safety issues, human resources management and Internet marketing. In addition to green sustainability, the school also includes a series of Web-based training sessions that allow participants to learn work-safety requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and how to save energy while protecting the environment.
The SCRS said people who register for Green Sustainability School will also be able to use Track Green Garage, a program that allows shops to instantly monitor their energy and emissions performance through real-time, online measurements.
