April 11, 2012—EMC Insurance Co. on Tuesday expressed its support of NSF International’s Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program.
EMC Insurance said that NSF-certified collision replacement parts are verified to be equivalent in form, fit and function compared to original equipment (OE) service parts, and the company supports the goals of the certification program.
“The program will increase the availability of quality collision repair parts and provides cost-effective alternatives to OEM replacement parts,” said Wendell Adamson, assistant vice president of claims at EMC Insurance.
NSF’s Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program tests and certifies reinforcement bars, steel bumpers, step bumpers, brackets, absorbers, sheet metal parts, external vehicle lighting and exterior plastic body parts. NSF said its engineers independently evaluate and compare those parts to OEM service parts to ensure the highest level of performance.
In addition, NSF’s certification process requires onsite inspections of aftermarket parts manufacturers’ quality systems to verify that the company has a traceability program, complaint process and in-plant quality assurance system in place, according to NSF.
