September 27, 2010—Volkswagen of America Inc. announced on Sept. 24 that collision repair facilities that perform repairs in accordance with Volkswagen’s safety standards and specifications are required to take I-CAR training courses.
The required courses are part of Volkswagen’s Certified Collision Repair Facility Program and the training includes:
• Advanced steel properties;
• Structural repair and replacement;
• Procedures for corrosion protection;
• Welding Qualification Test.
“I-CAR training will equip collision repair facility technicians with the necessary knowledge to repair our vehicles to factory standards,” said Dan Ducharme, parts specialist for Volkswagen. “If a body shop follows Volkswagen standards and specifications, they can positively impact the customer experience and help maintain the vehicle resale value.”
