Collision repair industry donates $1.7 million to I-CAR Education Foundation

Jan. 26, 2010

Jan. 26, 2010—The collision repair industry donated $1.7 million through the I-CAR Education Foundation to support collision schools, instructors and students in 2009.

Monetary and in-kind donations helped provide student scholarships, instructor grants and tool and equipment grants, according to I-CAR.

“The foundation supports a network of 1,300 schools only through the industry’s support,” said Scott Kruger, executive director of the I-CAR Education Foundation. “Without this support, the foundation would not exist.”

Nearly 200 organizations supported the foundation in 2009.

“It’s very rewarding to be a part of the foundation’s new vision and mission supporting schools and rewarding talented young people, the next generation of collision repair leaders, with scholarships,” said Chris Evans, board of trustees chairman for the I-CAR Education Foundation. “To be able to fulfill our mission in this tough economic climate is a testament to our staff, our trustee board and most importantly foundation donors, who, as industry leaders, clearly believe that education is the foundation of our industry.”
