June 10, 2011—Dupli-Color is inviting secondary and post-secondary automotive students to enter its Restoration Challenge: Generation Next, a vehicle restoration contest.
Students will compete to win scholarships to Ohio Technical College (OTC), and $5,000 worth of automotive retailer merchandise.
Teams of students can submit proposals for automotive projects that use at least 10 Dupli-Color products. Three teams will be chosen to participate in the Restoration Challenge based on their project proposal’s creativity, detail, feasibility and product use, according to Cleveland-based Dupli-Color.
Each team selected will receive enough Dupli-Color products to complete the projects, as well as $5,000 toward supplies from one of three retail sponsors: Advance Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Pep Boys, according to Dupli-Color.
Competing teams will document their projects and post updates on Facebook, where people can vote for their favorite project. The team with the most votes will be named the grand prize winner in November.
Members of the winning team will receive $10,000 scholarships to OTC. Members of the second place team will receive $7,500 scholarships, and third place winners will receive $5,000 scholarships.
“This was an opportunity for Dupli-Color to reach out to the young people who are interested in automotive restoration, and to help familiarize them with our product offerings,” said Fred Hunt, director of product development for Dupli-Color. “We wanted to give students the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their skills. And all winners will receive scholarships, so they have the option to take their educations even further. It’s a great benefit to everyone involved.”
School instructors or administrators must submit project proposals on Dupli-Color’s Facebook page, or at restogennext.com, by June 24 to enter a team for the contest. Only one entry per school will be considered. For more information, or to view a full list of entry requirements, rules and regulations, visit facebook.com/Duplicolo.
