CARSTAR honors military families through automotive assistance

Sept. 8, 2011—CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts on Thursday will recognize two St. Louis families of military troops in the Air Force and Navy by providing them with automotive assistance.

Eleven CARSTAR facilities near St. Louis partnered with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to raise funds and restore a vehicle to be donated.

Joshua Ripley, U.S. Air Force E3, Scott Air Force Base, and his family will receive a 2002 Chevy Malibu. The vehicle was donated by Bruce Devall, claims supervisor for Travelers Insurance, and was restored by CARSTAR.

Robert Ishum, U.S. Navy, Builder Petty Officer Second Class and Recruiter for the St. Louis District, and his family will be presented with a $2,400 gas card from CARSTAR. The gas card will allow his family to visit their premature son at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.

There also will be several surprise gifts for the two families, according to CARSTAR.

Both families will be honored during a special event Thursday at the VFW in Troy, Ill.
