Feb. 10, 2010--AutoMD release_notesd survey results that indicates car owners are putting at least 50,000 more miles on their current car than on their previous vehicle.
Nearly 50 percent of the survey respondents indicated their current vehicle had more than 100,000 miles. About 56 percent of people are planning on driving their vehicle until it dies.
The report also concluded the economy has influenced many to do their own repairs and pay more attention to maintenance on their current vehicle.
"Not only are consumers holding onto their vehicles for years longer, but for miles longer, opting to repair and maintain rather than purchasing new," said Shane Evangelist, AutoMD president. "We estimate that these car owners will be spending at least an additional $2,500 on repairs over the intended life of their vehicle.”
The AutoMD survey was conducted through December 2009 and January 2010.
