Mitchell launches Risk and Performance Optimization unit

March 8, 2012

March 8, 2012—Mitchell International on Thursday launched its Risk and Performance Optimization (RPO) solutions unit, which is designed to provide advanced analytics to the insurance claims industry.

Mitchell said its RPO unit will apply new analytics, data warehousing and consulting resources to assist with the complex claims management challenges that its U.S. clients face. The goal of Mitchell’s RPO solutions unit is to offer analytics-based automation through the company’s core software platforms to help claims operations resolve claims faster, maximize policy holders’ claim experiences, and mitigate fraud, waste and abuse.

"Applying advanced analytics methodologies to claims data has the promise to drive tremendous improvements and insights into the claims handling process and trends overall,” said Alex Sun, CEO of Mitchell. “RPO will help Mitchell's clients deploy tools that analyze our data streams to improve and ensure fair and effective claim resolution."

Mitchell hired Keith Peterson to lead its new RPO unit, which is based out of the company’s headquarters in San Diego. Peterson, a 20-year veteran in the predictive analytics industry, previously served as senior vice president of global data product development for Experian, as well as chief operating officer for Claritas.

Peterson holds a doctorate degree from Vanderbilt University, and is also a published expert in data-driven optimization and segmentation methodologies, according to Mitchell.

"Claims leaders need access to more insight to identify where they can improve operating performance and better automation to assist adjusters in resolving claims faster and fairly," Peterson said.
