June 28, 2011 — A 1934 Ford painted in PPG black recently took top honors at the 62nd Grand National Roadster Show in Pamona, Calif.
The car was named America’s Most Beautiful Roadster, a coveted designation in the custom-car world. Daryl Wolfswinkel owns the car, which was built by Doug jerger and his team at Squeeg’s Kustoms in Chandler, Ariz. It took 18 months to design, build and paint the car.
The paint is PPG’s Deltron single-stage DCC Concept Acrylic Urethane. “Those guys at PPG have it all together,” Jerger said. “Their paint always shoots and sprays right and looks great.”
The car also features a 427-cubic-inch Ford engine making 700 horsepower, a brown leather interior and nickel-plated wheels.
This is the second time Squeeg’s Kustoms has built this particular roadster for Wolfswinkel, but it is the shop’s first America’s Most Beautiful Roadster win. The crew is working on another Wolfswinkel project for the 2013 show.
