Nov. 18, 2019—California agencies have declared the state will stop buying gas-powered sedans and cars from manufacturers that haven't agreed to follow the state's clean car rules, reported ABC 10.
California’s Department of General Services, the state’s business manager that oversees vehicle purchases for California’s fleet, announced the bans on Friday afternoon.
While the policy affects General Motors, Toyota and Fiat Chrysler, it will hit General Motors hard. In addition to the $27 million in purchases from Chevrolet, the state also spent more than $11 million on Fiat Chrysler brands, and more than $3.6 million on Toyota.
