Nov. 4th, 2019—Until recently, Teslas could detect many common roadside objects except for the ones that direct drivers toward detours and reroutes—traffic cones.
The inventive automaker, however, is introducing a software update to help its cars see and respond to traffic cones while in autopilot mode. With this update, the car’s autopilot visualization system will be able to detect the blaze-orange mainstays of construction, Slash Gear reported on Sunday.
This vital addition will allow both the car and the driver to see what’s on the road as visualized in the large digital display. Nonetheless, Tesla asked its drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
