Minivan Crashes Into Mich. Body Shop

Ultimate Touch Auto Body Center suffered a surprise crash on Monday.

Oct. 31, 2019—Ultimate Touch Auto Body Center received quite a surprise after an untimely crash on Monday. At approximately 9:30 a.m. in Grand Traverse County, Mich., a runaway van careened down a nearby road, crashed into a parked vehicle and then caromed into the auto shop building.

No one was injured, though a significant amount of concrete, bricks and drywall was pulverized by the crash. The driver of the minivan is believed to have undergone a major health emergency while on the road.

“We don’t know the extent of his injuries, but they had a neck brace on him, and they were here rapidly,” said Larry Geiger, owner of Ultimate Touch Auto Body.

“Luckily there was a fireman following his car and happened to see the whole thing,” he said, “and he pulled into the parking lot and was able to respond immediately to help get the man out.”

Though Geiger expects a few weeks of repairs, he doesn’t plan to close and is confident the accident won’t impact his business.
