Oct. 28, 2019—Research shows a dog is best kept safe when wearing a harness and seat belt, according to CNET.

Putting your pups in the back hatch may make driving safer by keeping them contained, but it isn't the safest option in the case of a crash.

A dog should be strapped into a harness in the backseat and then the seatbelt should be slipped in beneath the rear loops, the report noted.
