CREF to award two $50,000 school grants in 2012

March 14, 2012

March 14, 2012—The Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF) will award two schools this year with its Ultimate Collision Education Makeover $50,000 school grant.

The two grants will be awarded to one secondary and one post-secondary school’s collision repair program. The CREF said grant applications are now available online at CollisionEducationFoundation.org, and must be submitted by August 31. As part of the grant application, the CREF said each school provides its own itemized wish list, which can include any tools, supplies and equipment that are needed for the collision program.

The recipients of the two Ultimate Collision Education Makeover school grants will be announced during the 2012 SEMA Show, which is scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Las Vegas. Each of the winning schools will have their $50,000 wish list fulfilled, the CREF said.

“The goal of the Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant is to honor a school that has been doing an outstanding job in educating students in collision repair, but needs some financial assistance to improve their program’s teaching materials and equipment,” the CREF said. “With strained school budgets, the Education Foundation and industry supporters have the opportunity to bridge the program’s financial gap and to make a difference in the lives of the students studying collision repair.”

The CREF has provided $50,000 of financial support to three school collision repair programs since the Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant debuted in 2009. Recipients of the grant have included Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School in Jefferson Hills, Pa., Bridgerland Applied Technology College in Logan, Utah, and Applied Technology Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
