Oct. 3, 2019—Tuesday, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced that an auto parts manufacturer will build a plant in Auburn to serve the area’s growing automotive base, according to WTVY.com.
South Korean company Shinhwa Group will initially make driveshafts for vehicles built by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama’s Montgomery plant, as well as for Kia Motor’s nearby Georgia plant, according to the story.
Shinhwa’s Auburn operation will be its first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Construction is already underway on the facility, located in Auburn Technology Park West, and Phase 1 of the project is expected to be finished in summer 2020.
