ARA launches Green Recycled Parts website

April 22, 2011

April 22, 2011 — Just in time for Earth Day, the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) announced Thursday the launch of a new website to promote the environmental and economic impact of recycled parts.

Named Green Recycled Parts, the site links consumers, repair facilities and insurance companies to a nationwide network of automotive recyclers, said Michael Wilson, CEO of ARA.

“For the first time, this website also provides consumers with a specific place to go to learn about cost effective, environmentally friendly part options before they decide on a repair,” he said.

Wilson said U.S. automotive recycling provides enough steel annually to produce nearly 13 million new vehicles. It also saves an estimated 85 million barrels of oil a year and reduces greenhouse gasses, he said, noting that recycled parts are also significantly more affordable than new parts.

“However, far too often, consumers are not aware of the options available to them when it comes to vehicle repair, most notably the economic and environmental benefits of recycled automotive parts.”

The new website is at greenrecycledparts.com.
