July 23, 2019—Bosch and Daimler on Tuesday announced that their automated parking system has been approved for operation, reported CNET.This is the first Level 4 parking system to get approval for daily use, according to the report.
Level 4 is hands-off level of automation, yet it's limited to certain locations and situations.
The system will be put to use at the Mercedes-Benz Museum parking garage in Stuttgart, Germany. Mercedes-Benz is providing the vehicles. Once the car goes into the garage, smartphone usage sends vehicles off to park. Bosch has sensors over the parking area, sending data to the vehicle about where to park.
