May 20, 2013—The Atlanta I-CAR Volunteer Committee recently awarded a $9,000 scholarship to James Perez, a student at Maxwell High School of Technology in Lawrenceville, Ga., through the Collision Repair Education Foundation.

The scholarship will assist Perez with costs to continue his collision repair technical education.

“We are very pleased that we could help another student in Atlanta join our industry,” said Gerry Poirier, chairman of the Atlanta I-CAR Volunteer Committee, a group of more than 40 collision repair industry shop managers, insurers and vendors.

Funds for the scholarship were raised through the Atlanta I-CAR Volunteer Committee’s annual golf and car show fundraiser events.

“I would like to congratulate the Atlanta I-CAR Volunteer Committee on their incredible job to come together as a group and help raise funds and support for their local collision school programs and students,” said Brandon Eckenrode, director of development for the Education Foundation. “Through car shows, golf fundraisers, and other events, this local committee has been able to raise over $75,000 that goes toward supporting the technical education of their local collision students.”
