Iowa Gets First Tesla Body Shop

April 12, 2019
Willis Automotive, a Des Moines-area dealership and collision repair center, just became the state's first Tesla-approved body shop network facility.

April 12, 2019—Willis Automotive, a Clive, Ia., car dealership and auto body shop, just became the state's first Tesla-approved body shop network facility — meaning the luxury electric car company is willing to send parts and have repairs done at the shop, reported Des Moines Register.

Willis Automotive reached out to Tesla about becoming an authorized shop and purchased certified Tesla repair equipment for its cars and electric battery packs.

The authorization required more than 50 hours of online training and several weeks of offsite training to qualify, Willis said. The early fruits of the shop's investment: already, six Tesla owners have dropped off their vehicles for maintenance at the shop this week.
