March 11, 2019—Especially harsh winter weather has left some Wisconsin collision repair facilities as busy as they’ve been in over a decade.

Steve Rainville, the body shop manager at Fred Mueller Body Shop in Schofield, Wis., recently told WAOW.com that his shop has been booked out for over a month, and that many of his employees are working extended hours to keep pace with the flow of vehicles coming into the shop.

“Estimates range anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000 per crash,” said Rainville, a past FenderBender feature story source. “It’s gonna get up there, and that might even raise some of the premiums …”

Rainville said some of the contributing factors to the numerous crashes in Wisconsin lately have been deer, and the height of snow banks.

“The snow banks are high,” Rainville noted. “People are pulling out and nosing out, and they’re not seeing if traffic is coming. Also, deer can’t run through the deep snow, so they’re taking easy passages which is the roads.”
