June 11, 2018—Honda and Acura released a steel usage and repairability matrix to the industry.

The steel usage and repairability matrix is a chart that identifies Honda and Acura’s repair recommendations based on the MPa of steel used for a part. The matrix contains information on the MPa, steel type, cold repairability, use of heat for repairs, recommended welding methods, and more.

This document is designed to work in conjunction with vehicle-specific body repair manuals and the Honda and Acura Body Repair Manual & Welding Sectioning Guideline revisions. As noted on the steel usage and repairability document, “Always follow the model specific body repair manual for detailed repair procedures.

A special menu item button has been added to each Honda and Acura home page for this new matrix.
