Industry revenue on the rise

Aug. 24, 2012—Collision repair shop revenue reached $38.7 billion in 2011, a 3.3 percent increase compared to $37.5 billion in 2010, according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association’s (AAIA) 2012 report called Collision Repair Trends: Industry Statistics & Analysis.

Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO of the AAIA, said independent paint and body repair shops made up $25.7 billion—66 percent—of the total market in 2011.

The AAIA’s 2012 Digital Collision Repair Trends report, which was release_notesd this week, combines collision repair industry data from AAIA research, government sources and other independent researchers to identify the size and scope of the collision repair industry. The report offers data on industry topics including vehicle crash fatalities, retail distribution, collision repair shop sales and direct repair programs (DRPs).
