Bridgestone’s Turanza EL400 Run-Flat tires are to be standard equipment on the all wheel drive versions of Toyota’s 2011 Sienna minivan.
“Like earlier run-flat tires, this new tire still provides peace of mind thanks to a reinforced sidewall that allows the tire to be driven up to 50 miles at speeds up to 50 mph after a complete loss of air,” according to Mike Martini, a Bridgestone divisional president in charge of original equipment tire sales.
As an enhancement to earlier run-flat designs, says Martini, the tire – which utilizes the company’s 3G RFT technology – delivers a more comfortable ride that compares with traditional touring tires.
The Sienna AWD is the first vehicle in the world to be fitted with the engineering advances that mark a significant improvement over previous editions of run-flat tires, he notes.
“Premium technology for the whole family makes the Bridgestone brand and Toyota the perfect combination,” Martini asserts.
