Axalta Celebrates 100,000 Irus Scans

To commemorate the achievement, Axalta partnered with Mike & Jerry’s Paint & Supply in New Orleans to present a custom-painted Irus Scan unit to longtime customer Calvin Shank of Car Craft Automotive.

Axalta announced the delivery of its 100,000th Axalta Irus Scan, marking a major milestone in the company’s digital color innovation for the refinish industry, according to a news release.

Irus Scan is the scan component of Axalta’s three-part Irus digital color management process of scan, match and mix, which helps refinish customers move from color measurement to formula retrieval and mixing with greater precision and efficiency. To commemorate the achievement, Axalta partnered with Mike & Jerry’s Paint & Supply in New Orleans to present a custom-painted Irus Scan unit to longtime customer Calvin Shank of Car Craft Automotive.

“From increasingly complex effect pigments to diverse gloss levels, vehicle finishes continue to evolve rapidly, and the tools refinishers rely on must evolve with them,” said Troy Weaver, president of Global Refinish at Axalta. “Reaching 100,000 Axalta Irus Scan units is an important milestone that reflects nearly 50 years of advancing color technology to help our customers work more accurately, efficiently and productively.”

Axalta’s leadership in color measurement technology dates to 1978 when the company began advancing tools that would evolve from bench-top instruments to portable scanners. Axalta Irus Scan combines advanced measurement technology with an intuitive user experience, built-in gloss measurement capabilities, and a high-definition RGB camera that provides real-time surface visualization. Working with Axalta’s digital color formula retrieval technology and a database of more than two million color formulas, Irus Scan helps refinish customers identify the right color match quickly and consistently from the first measurement.
